Executive Decree No. 263/18 approving the Regulation of the National Directorate of Livestock within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the National Directorate of Livestock within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. This Regulation, consisting of 11 articles divided into three Chapters and two Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned National Directorate with the following competencies: a) Propose development policies and strategies in the field of national livestock; b) Develop studies, policies and strategies for the management of animal genetic resources; e) Elaborate rules and regulations for the exercise of animal biotechnology; d) Ensure the development and implementation of standards for the prevention and control of animal diseases; e) Ensure the elaboration and implementation of food safety standards of animal origin products; j) Control and monitor industries for conservation and transformation products of animal origin and their derivatives; g) Control livestock's activities, according to the law; h) Prepare the registration and classification of livestock holdings; i) Promote the value chain of animal production; l) Propose research and innovation policies in the field of animal science; k) Monitor and evaluate the implementation of Livestock Sector programmes to ensure the development of studies and actions to mitigate the risks of natural disasters with a view to minimizing their impact on livestock production; etc.
