Executive Decree No. 268/18 approving the Regulation of the National Directorate of Agriculture within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

This Executive Decree approves the Regulation of the National Directorate of Agriculture within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. This Regulation, consisting of three Chapters divided into 11 articles and two Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Directorate, entitled to perform the following activities: propose development policies and strategies in the field of agriculture, hydro-agriculture and rural engineering; elaborate norms and regulations aiming at the protection of crops and the national territory against pests and diseases; propose measures aimed at the protection and recovery of degraded soils for agricultural, livestock and forestry purposes; elaborate norms and regulations for the exercise of plant biotechnology; control and monitor the industrial transformation of agricultural products and their derivatives; register and authorize plant protection products and fertilizers of national or imported production and control their use; monitor the price policy and markets for agricultural products; follow-up the management, maintenance and operation of hydro-agricultural infrastructures, as well as water, ground- and surface water collection facilities and equipment within the Sector, etc.
