Executive Decree No. 706/25 approving the Internal Regulations of the National Directorate of the Environment.

This Executive Decree establishes the rules for the organization and operation of the National Directorate of the Environment of the Ministry of the Environment (DNA). DNA is the direct executive service of the Ministry of the Environment, responsible for implementing the National Environmental Management Plan. DNA is governed and complies with the provisions of Presidential Decree No. 278/22 of 7 December, which approves the Statute of the Ministry of the Environment. DNA main objectives are: a) Ensure the development and implementation of national environmental activities; b) Ensure the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, standards, strategies and plans in the environmental area; c) Promote actions to prevent degradation of and damage to the environment; d) Develop and propose the dissemination of preventive measures for environmental degradation and its restoration; e) Conduct studies and prepare opinions on the problems of environmental pollution, as well as propose appropriate measures to prevent them; f) Promote measures necessary to guarantee biological safety and biodiversity, in order to ensure the protection of the environment and quality of life; g) Develop and ensure the implementation of strategies aimed at preserving biodiversity and maintaining natural ecosystems; h) Promote the sustainable use of biodiversity; i) Promote and propose urban and rural environmental quality standards, particularly in the areas of air, water, soil and noise; j) Structure and implement water and air quality monitoring networks; k) Promote activities related to the implementation of the Conventions in the Environmental Area, etc.
