Presidential Decree No. 273/17 approving the Regulation for Laboratory Testing on Imported Products Destined for Human Consumption.

This Presidential Decree approves the Regulation for Laboratory Testing on Imported Products Destined for Human Consumption. This Regulation, consisting of 39 articles divided into four Chapters and five Annexes, specifies hygiene and sanitary requirements to be satisfied by products destined to human consumption in view at safeguarding the public interest underlying the protection of public health and the environment. It applies to importers, owners or intermediates of imported goods, with the exception of natural persons, agents and diplomatic missions, Non-Governmental Organizations, Churches charity and the Security House of the President of the Republic. The Regulation, also regulates the collection of samples and laboratory tests, as well as issuance of Certificates for imported merchandise, and establishes the sanctioning regime for illegal activities.
