Presidential Decree No. 41/18 approving the Statute of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR).

This Presidential Decree changes the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism into the Ministry of Tourism, and approves its Statute (MINTUR). This Statute, consisting of 34 articles divided into five Chapters and three Annexes, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Ministry, entitled to perform the following activities: propose, conduct, supervise, evaluate and implement the Executive in the field of tourism and conduct strategies, programmes and projects for the promotion and development of tourism sector; propose the follow-up of tourism development policy with a view to contributing to the country's economic and social development; promote the country as a tourist and investment destination, an instrument for creating employment, diversifying the economy and contributing to the increase of State revenues; promote responsible tourism, based on the principles of environmental, socio-cultural, economic and political-institutional sustainability, and develop tourism decentralized strategies; formulate, coordinate, support and monitor plans, programmes, projects and actions related to tourism, as a strategy of diversification of tourism, promoting social inclusion and income generating activities for local populations; disseminate, along the tourism production chain, public policies aimed at supporting the prevention and combat of sexual exploitation, etc.
