Abstract
The present Ordinance implements the Animal Health Act (BGBl. No. 133/1999). The Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the fight against and prevention of bovine virus diarrhea and mucosal disease (BVD/MD) in cattle. It applies to all bovine herds in Austria except for those who are esclusively used for slaughtering as far as these stock do not have cattle also used for breeding. The text consists of 21 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Examination and sampling (2); Classification of herds and inspection (3); Virus free and suspicious stock (4); Marketing of cattle (5); Financial provisions (6); Penalties (7); Final provisions (8).
