Abstract
The present Law forms the basis for the establishment and running of national parks and biosphere reserves in the Land Carinthia. An area that: a) is very impressive and rich in forms being characteristic for Austria or includes historically significant landscape components; b) has not been or is not being affected by human beings in its total or partial originality; c) includes ecosystems of special nature, i.e. of scientifical importance or characteristic landscape; d) possesses a certain extension can be declared a National Park. With the declaration of the National Park it has to be ensured that: a) areas which meet the requirements of article 1, are conserved in their total or extensive originality for the benefit of the population of the region and the Republic of Austria, for the benefit of science and for the promotion of the regional economy and the agriculture and forestry; b) the characteristic animals and plants for such areas, including their habitats and any existing historically significant objects and landscape components shall be preserved; and c) for a large number of people an impressive nature experience shall be made possible. The text consists of 41 articles divided into 3 Parts as follows: National Parks (1); Biosphere Reservates (2); Common provisions (3).
