Abstract
The purpose of the present Act is to promote an increase in the contribution of renewable energy sources to electricity production. Renewable energy sources are defined as renewable non-fossil energy sources, i.e. wind, solar, geothermal, wave, tidal, hydropower, biomass, landfill gas, sewage treatment plant gas and biogases (art. 5). The text consists of 33 articles divided into 6 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Promotion of renewable energy and energy production (2); Preparation of balance sheet (3); Financing promotion of energy production (4); Ordinances, duty to give information, data collection, penalties (5); Transitional and final provisions (6)
Moreover, the present Act introduces substantial amendments to the Electricity and Electricity Organization Act. (BGBl. I No 121/2000).
