Electricity and Electricity Organization Act.

A piece of basic legislation in the field of electricity production and its organization. The objectives of the present Act are, inter alia, to make available to the people of Austria high quality electricity at a reasonable price; to continue to increase the big part of renewable energy in the Austrian energy production; to take into consideration the safety of the production, the guarantee of supply, and above all the environmental compatibility. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed such as “production”, “independent producers”, “transmission”, “distribution”, “client”, “ultimate consumer”, “net”’. The text consists of 71 articles divided into 11 Parts as follows: General principles (1); Inner organization and transparency of accounting (2); Electricity production plants and contracts for electricity delivery (3); Operating nets (4); Electricity producers (5); Affiliated companies (6); Admitted customers (7); Authorities (8); Special provisions for organzation (9); Penalties (10); Transitional and final provisions (11).
