Abstract
The present Ordinance introduces the Council Directive 2001/112/EC relating to fruit juices and certain similar products intended for human consumption into Austrian national legislation. The said Ordinances regulates the production of fruit juice and similar products. It contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms therein employed, such as “fruit”, “pulp”, “concentrated pulp”, “juice”, “concentrated juice”, “nectar”, “dry fruit nectar”. Articles 2 to 4 deal with allowed ingredients, such as vitamins, minerals, different kinds of sugar, etc. Article 6 indicates authorized methods and substances for the production of fruit juice. Details of marking and labelling are contained in articles 7 to 9. The Ordinance consists of 10 articles and 1 Annex laying down special provisions for fruit nectar.
