Abstract
The present Law forms the basis for the establishment and running of national parks in the Land of Lower Austria. The establishment of national parks has: 1) to comply with the guidelines of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and National Resources and seek the acceptance of the population; and to ensure 2) the conservation of the natural beauty and harmony of the landscape, as well of its eco-systems; 3) the conservation of wild fauna and flora and their eco-systems; 4) to keep in mind that national parks serve education and research purposes; 5) to promote the successful co-ordination and harmonization between local authorities and those of the federal State. The text deals with the following issues: naming and delimitation of the parks, sphere of application, the particular area involved in each case; management of the parks and their particular tasks, Local National Park Commission, inspection; re-establishment of previous parks and penalties. The text consists of 21 articles.
