Abstract
This Ordinance of the Ministry of Health and Women, made under the Animal Diseases Act, makes provision for the early detection, control and eradication of Lumpy skin disease (LSD, dermatitis nodularis) in Austria and the implementation of Council Directive 92/119/EEC introducing general Community measures for the control of certain animal diseases and specific measures relating to swine vesicular disease. The Ordinance prescribes measures for the early detection of the diseases and measures in case of suspicion of an outbreak and an outbreak of the disease. In particular, the placing on the market and any movement of milk, sperm, eggs and embryos and other animal products and animal feed, litter, and manure, for which contamination with the LSD cannot be ruled out, will be restricted. Protection zones may be established and a vaccination programme may put in place. The Federal Minister for Health and Women shall eliminate the infected Zone or free zone with vaccination taking into account the rules of the European Union the provisions of the International Office of Animal Health (OIE).
