Abstract
An Ordinance to ensure the quality of meat and meat products in Austria. It applies to cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses and others. To detect specific diseases, animals have to be examined carefully before slaughtering; should any doubt arise, the slaughtering is not authorized. Part 3 contains procedures for the examination of meat after slaughtering. The meat is declared unfit for human consumption if one of the diseases listed in article 20 is detected. A special procedure governs the preparation of meat for human consumption by special procedure. The Ordinance deals also with the authorities controlling slaughterhouses. The disposal of waste is dealt with in Part 7. The Ordinance consists of 37 articles divided into 8 Parts.
