Abstract
This Law is enacted with the aim to maintain and improve the performance of animal's production, by taking into consideration the animal health and welfare; to improve the economic viability and competitiveness of livestock production, with special consideration of improving sustainability; to ensure that the products obtained from the animals meet the quality requirements; and to maintain or promote genetic quality and diversity. This Law applies to bovine species, pig, sheep, goat and equine animals. Section 2 of the text provides for breeding association and breeding company, performance tests, breeding value estimates and data. Section 3 outlines transfer of ownership or breeding animals, surrender of semen, oocytes and embryos. The text contains 26 Articles divided into 5 Sections.
