Abstract
The Ordinance establishes protective measures to prevent the spread of animal diseases within animal hospitals, shelters, and sanctuaries. It applies to notifiable animal diseases as defined by the Animal Disease Act and covers animals suspected of carrying or spreading such diseases. When a suspected infected animal is detected in these facilities, the district authority must promptly order protective measures. These include prohibiting the introduction of new animals, restricting the movement of all or specific animals from the facility, preventing entry of unauthorized persons, requiring disinfection before and after entering the premises, identifying the affected animal population, banning the removal of potentially contaminated materials, and mandating disinfection of the facility or parts of it.
