Abstract
The Act consists of 45 sections divided into 4 Parts and one schedule. It provides for the appointment of standard officers (sect. 4) and of inspectors (sect. 5) and defines their functions and powers under the Act. The use of chemicals and substances having chemical residues is regulated under Part 2. The Governor in Council may proscribe the use of certain chemicals (sect. 11), while in general the use of chemicals for veterinary purposes has to be duly prescribed by veterinary surgeons and the indications have to be fully respected by the person in charge of animals under treatment. Part 3 contains miscellaneous provisions among others on powers of inspectors (sect. 20), on warrants (sect. 21) and appeals (sects. 22-22E). Part 4 deals with transitional provision for Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Legislation Amendment Act 2002.
