Abstract
These Regulations prescribe classes of fisheries licences granted in respect of Australian vessels for purposes of paragraph 5(a) and (ba) of the Fisheries Levy Act and specify the rate of levy for prescribed licences. The Regulations apply to licences granted under subsection 19(2) of the Torres Strait Fisheries Act which includes a provision under subsection 22(2) of the Act that limits the number of allocated fishing days in a year, i.e. days that a boat for which a licence was granted may be in the reporting area, i.e. the area that has the meaning given by the Torres Strait Fisheries Management Notice No. 43.
