Abstract
This Regulation regulates several areas of fisheries management and conservation covered in the principal Act. It is structured as follows: Preliminary (I); Protected fish, prohibited size fish and bag limits, including: special provisions relating to scallops (II); Fishing gear, including lawful commercial and recreational nets and traps (III); Priorities in the use of fishing gear, including offences, priority between commercial and recreational fishers using prawn nets (IV); Miscellaneous provisions relating to fisheries management, including use of explosives, etc., recognized fishing grounds, tagging of rock lobster (V); Commercial share management fisheries (VI); Licensing and other commercial fisheries management, including commercial licences, boat licences, crew members (VII); Restricted fisheries, including abalone, ocean prawn, ocean fish trawl, ocean trap and line, estuary general and estuary prawn trawl restricted fishery, scallops in Jarvis Bay, jellyfish, ocean hauling fishery (VIII); Fish receivers and fish records (IX); Administration, including Management Advisory Committees (XI); Enforcement (XII); Savings and transitional (XII). Schedules: Ocean waters (1); Waters in which net and trap fishing are prohibited (2); Waters in which use of prawn net (set pocket) is permitted (3); Waters in which spearfishing is prohibited (4); Penalty notices (5).
