Abstract
This Act contains 15 articles and two Annexes. Whereas the 15 articles amend the principal Act namely the Seas and Submerged Lands Act, 1973, Annex 1 includes the amendments of all the other related acts affected by these amendments to the principal Act. Parts II, V and VI of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea are set out in Annex 2. This text mainly translates into national legislation the contents of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea done at Montego Bay on 10 December 1982.

Entry into force notes
Subject to subsection (2), this Act comes into operation on a day to be fixed by Proclamation; If this Act does not commence under subsection (1) within the period of 6 months beginning on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent, it commences on the first day after the end of that period.
Notes
The present Act further amends the Admiralty Act 1988 and the Sea Installations Act 1987.
