Abstract
This Act provides for the control of sources of ionising radiation, it consists of 14 Parts divided into 235 sections. Part 2 is dedicated to licences, Part 3 to radiation safety standards and certification, Part 4 to the acquisition, supply and relocation of radiation apparatus. Parts 6 and 7 provide for thwe disposal of radioactive materail and radiation apparatus and for other radiation safety, protection and security measures. Part 8 covers monitoring, investigation and enforcement while Part 9 establishes the Radiation Advisory Council, regulating its composition, functions and powers. Part 11 covers legal proceedings and Part 12 registration and access to information. The Act is completed by two schedules on decisions for which information notice must be given and on dictionary of terms relevant under the Act.
