Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to amend the Water Act 1989 so as to: (a) to require the use of water in private dams or from springs or soaks for commercial and irrigation purposes to be licensed; (b) to provide for the declaration of water supply protection areas and the preparation and implementation of management plans for those areas; (c) to require certain dams to be licensed; (d) to require licensed drillers to comply with the conditions of bore construction licenses; (e) to make other miscellaneous amendments

Entry into force notes
This Act (except sections 19(2), 19(4), 20, 25(1), 26, 27, 28 and 31) comes into operation on the day after the day on which it receives the Royal Assent. Sections 19(2), 19(4), 20, 25(1), 26, 27, 28 and 31 come into operation on 1 February 2002.
