Abstract
The Water Services Code of Practice (Family Violence) 2020, enacted under the Water Services Act 2012 in Western Australia, establishes guidelines for water service licensees to support customers affected by family violence. It mandates the creation of a family violence policy by licensees, addressing employee training, provision of resources to customers, secure handling of sensitive information, and processes for identifying and managing accounts affected by family violence. This code applies to residential customers. Licensees must maintain proper record-keeping practices related to compliance and interactions with affected customers. Customers must be informed of the complaints procedure during their initial contact with the licensee concerning family violence-related matters.
