Ministerial Decree No. 259 on approval of formation, preservation and utilization of the national collections of genetic resources of cultivated plants.

This Decree states that Scientific and Technical Council shall be established, with the participation of National Academy of Science, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents. Furthermore, Institute of Genetic Resources shall be determined as the national coordinator. This Decree sets forth provision on formation, preservation and utilization of the national collections of genetic resources of cultivated plants. National collections of genetic resources of cultivated plants shall be registered by Scientific and Technical Council and shall be considered as state property. This Decree determines the principles of a) formation, departments of Scientific and Technical Council, b) sampling, c) attaching samples to the collection, dehydration of seeds, d) viability assessment of seeds, e) restoration of collection samples, f) characterization, assessment and identification of plant species, g) usage of genetic resources of cultivated plants, h) documentation of samples, i) safety of Gene Banks, and j) collection, storage and restoration organization of Scientific and Technical Council.
