Abstract
This Law sets forth the principles and procedures regarding the collection, conservation, research and sustainable use of genetic resources of cultivated plants with a view of sustainable agricultural development and ensuring food, ecological and biological safety. It lists the genetic resources of cultivated plants subject to conservation and good management as wild growing and weed-grow plant varieties affined to cultivated plants; ancient local plant varieties used in traditional agro-ecosystems; selection varieties; selection lines, sources and donor of precious properties; and genetic material hybrids and plant varieties created by biotechnology. The Law also sets out provisions regarding the state management and control, the duties and responsibilities of related authorities and implementation of a national program on this field. The Law further regulates the establishment, functioning and authorities of cultivated plant genetic resource banks and also provides for and economic incentives for conservation and sustainable use genetic resources.
