Presidential Decree No. 19 on approval of the Statute of Shahdag National Park.

The Shahdag National Park was established in the Quba Rayon, Qusar Rayon, İsmayilli Rayon, Qəbələ Rayon, Oğuz Rayon and Şamaxi Rayon administrative districts with the aims of environmental protection, sustainability, biodiversity conservation, protection of endangered species of wild fauna and flora, as well as protecting rare and unique natural areas, historical and cultural objects, creating conditions for tourism and recreation, developing scientific methods for environmental protection and ecological enlightenment, ensuring environmental monitoring and training of population in the field of environment. According to the Article 10/1 of the Law No. 840-IQ on protected areas the sanitary-protection zone in Shahdag National Park has been identified in order to protect soil and water areas from anthropogenic impacts. This National Park can be used for environmental monitoring, scientific research and recreational, educational and touristic purposes as long as being in compliance with the requirements established by the legislation.
