Abstract
This Law regulates the functioning of the electricity sector, power generation activities, the development of the electricity market, market regulation, the general conditions for delivery of the electricity, planning and development, construction, reconstruction and maintenance of electric power facilities, monitoring of Law enforcement and other issues of importance for electrical power business sector and related activities on the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Main objectives of this Law are the following: to ensure a continuous, safe and quality supply of electrical energy; to promote the development in the field of power supply and diversification of sources of electricity; to offer incentives for domestic and foreign investments; to ensure the participation in the international electricity market; to achieve economical and rational use of electricity; to offer energy efficiency; to introduce the competition, transparency and prevention of adverse effects of monopolies; environmental protection in accordance with the regulations and national and international standards; to offer the protection of the interests of users; and to use and promote the use of renewable energy sources.
The Law is divided into XXIII Chapters and 118 articles, including the inspection and monitoring duties and mansions; and offences and related penalties.
Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
