Abstract
This Law regulates: the preservation, protection, restoration and improvement of ecological quality and capacity of the environment; the quality of life; the measures and conditions for management, preservation, and rational use of natural resources; the necessary framework of legal measures and institutions for the preservation, protection and improvement of environmental protection; the finance related activities in environmental sector; the tasks and duties of administrative bodies; and the obligations of public administration bodies.
This Law promotes: reduction and prevention of the overloading of environmental pollution; the rehabilitation of the damaged environment; the protection of human health and the improvement of environmental conditions necessary for a healthy and sustainable quality of life; the preservation and protection of natural resources, rational use of resources; the compliance of other interests and requirements related to environmental protection; the issues of international cooperation in the environmental protection sector; the issues regarding private and public participation in activities of direct and/or indirect environmental protection principles/practices; the coordination of the economy and the integration of social and economic development in line with the requirements of mandatory environmental protection; the establishment and development of institutions for the protection of the environment.
The Law is divided into 18 Chapters and 134 articles, including all offences and related penalties.
