Abstract
The Lipizzaner Breeding Program in the Republika Srpska for the period 2025-2029 is a set of zootechnical, selection and other methods and procedures aimed at improving the breeding of the Lipizzaner breed of horses in the Republika Srpska and is of great importance both for the Public Institution “Vučijak” Stud Farm and the Lipizzaner Breeders’ Association of the Republika Srpska, as well as for other breeders, equestrian clubs and experts in this branch of livestock breeding. The breeding program implements all measures that entail the preservation, development and improvement of the genetic basis of the Lipizzaner breed of horses in the Republika Srpska using breeding methods and procedures that classify parent animals into classes and stud books. The aim of the breeding program is to breed Lipizzaner horses in accordance with the breed description established by the Lipizzan International Federation (LIF). The breeding program determines the populations of Lipizzaner horses on which it is carried out, the breeding goal, the selection methods, the participants in the breeding program and their mutual relationships.
