Law on livestock (Republic of Srpska).

This Law regulates several basic principles and rules regarding the livestock sector in the Republic of Srpska (part of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and defines it as sector of significant national interest.
The Law hereby sets various measures and other issues of great importance for the development and improvement of livestock production, by setting requirements in terms of keeping of live animals, their necessary zoo-higenic and sanitary conditions, direct rules for the breeding of farm animals (such as equidae, cattle/bovine, pigs, sheep, goats, poultry, fur, rabbits, and feathered game on farmyards and in other types of breeding facilities), also providing the correct manner of adoption and implementation of a specific breeding-selection programme, preservation of genetic variability, conservation and use of genetic resources of breed animals, animal and deriving genetic material trade and transport issues, rights and obligations of the operators in livestock sector, training and research work in the field of animal husbandry, and rules for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of products of animal origin, including the necessary inspection and monitoring provisions.
Main objectives of this text are to increase the efficiency of production and breeding of live animals while preserving and/or improving their vitality and genetic value/status; increase the economy of livestock production; improve the quality of products from breeding animals; conserve the genetic variability, biodiversity and native (autochthonous) race of breeding animals; breed animals with the application of regulations for the preservation of the environment, zoohigenic and ethological norms; perform professional zootechnical procedures; apply results of scientific, professional, educational and advisory work in livestock breeding.
The text is divided into XI Chapters and 67 articles, including the offences and consequential penalty provisions (see Chapter X).
