Abstract
This Regulation establishes biosecurity measures aimed at reducing the risk of transmission of highly pathogenic avian influenza caused by the H5N1 (subspecies influenza A) virus from live wild free birds, to poultry and other captive birds. These measures are also setting procedures for secured early detection system in areas of special risk, as well as conditions for the placing on the market of farmed poultry intended for restoration of wildlife populations.
The Annex is also part of this publication (Annex I and II, containing list of criteria and risk factors to be taken into account when applying the measures set out in article 3 on individual poultry farms; list of criteria to be taken into account when applying the measures set out in Article 4 on commercial holdings).
