Abstract
This Regulation provides for food safety rules and requirements to be observed in relation to all ceramic (material) items and objects that are meant for direct food contact (packaging of food, food presentation or food processing items).
The aim of these provisions is to regulate the possibility of lead and cadmium release deriving from ceramic material made objects or items (objects which are produced from mixtures of inorganic materials with a generally high content of clay or silicate or similar), which in their final state, are designated as object that can and will come into direct contact with food intended for human consumption.
The Annex is part of this publication (basic rules and methods for determining the possible residues of lead and cadmium).
