Abstract
This Regulation determines the conditions and manner of work of the Border Veterinary Inspection of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Rules here provided are aimed to be applied during the inspection of goods and consignments at the border, and activities and tasks to be carried out by the border veterinary inspectors.
In order to protect human and animal health, every shipment imported into Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to pass through an authorized inspection point and must be subjected to veterinary inspections and controls as prescribed by article 2, items h), i), j) and k) of this Regulation. Article 6 sets out the rules regarding internal controls; Article 8 is on cooperation of competent veterinary authorities; article 9 is on decision on the absence of veterinary health problems for import into Bosnia and Herzegovina; article 13 is related to import of animals; article 15 provides for necessary contents of the veterinary health certificate; article 17 sets out rules on prohibitions and temporary import bans; article 20 is on veterinary controls of special consignments; article 22 regards the procedures of rejection-return-harmless destruction of consignment of products of animal origin; article 24 is related to the procedure in case of risk to human or animal health; article 25 sets out the procedure in case of infectious disease presence or outbreak; article 26 sets out proceedings in case of violations; article 27 sets out the export procedure.
The Border Veterinary Inspection of Bosnia and Herzegovina shall issue instructions on the veterinary and health conditions that shipments must have in order to be imported into Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are harmonized with EU, OIE and WHO regulations, as well as Codex Alimentarius standards and rules. The instructions should also include possible protection measures in case of risk to human or animal health and the principles of animal protection and welfare in accordance with the CITES.
