Abstract
This Regulation prescribes the conditions and criteria for determining areas subject to eutrophication and/or areas sensitive to nitrates. This text determines the manner of proclamation, protection measures, prohibitions and restrictions in these areas. These measures are meant for the reduction or prevention of water pollution caused or caused by nitrates and phosphorus compounds. Eutrophication is the enrichment of water with nitrogen and/or phosphorus compounds, which causes accelerated growth and development of algae and other aquatic vegetation, which creates an unwanted imbalance in organisms present in water and water quality disturbance. The provisions of this Regulation shall apply to: all water bodies found to be subject to eutrophication; and sensitive to nitrates, and to soils drained into waters found to be subject to eutrophication and sensitive to nitrates, or if they may become such if not applying protection measures.
