Abstract
This Law regulates water management and related activities within the territory of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including: various specific administrative provisions, technical and operational requirements and standards, data collection and monitoring, inspection and competent authorities policies and responsibilities.
Water management includes water protection, water use, protection from the harmful effects or effective side effects.
This Law also regulates water wealth and public water, water facilities, legal persons and other institutions engaged in specific issues of water management and other issues regarding the water and its technical aspects.
The main purpose of this Law is to ensure a correct and sustainable water management in order to: reduce the water pollution, to achieve good water status and prevent degradation of water on the national territory; achieve an effective sustainable water use; ensure the equitable access to water; encourage and sustain the social and economic development; protect the entire ecosystem; reduce the risk of flooding and other adverse impacts of water; ensure the effective public participation in decision-making; comply with various obligations under international agreements that are binding the Federation of BiH.
This Law is divided into 15 Chapters and 224 articles including offences and related penalties.
