Abstract
This Act makes provision for the preservation and enhancement of designated marine areas of and the protection of beaches of Barbados. For this purpose the Director of the Coastal zone Management Unit shall prepare for the approval of the Minister a draft coastal zone management plan and a draft order delimiting a coastal zone management area (sect. 3). The content of such plan is outlined in section 4. Procedures of adoption, amendment or review of such a plan are outlined in sections 5 to 12. A Coastal Zone Management Tribunal is established under section 13. The Director may prepare orders designing restricted area in marine areas of Barbados. For purposes outlined in section 15. Section 15 provides for the preparation for approval of the Minister of restricted area orders. Part III is subdivided into 3 chapters dealing with general preservation matters, coral reef protection, and beach protection. The Director may prepare orders designing restricted area in marine areas of Barbados for purposes outlined in section 15. Sections 22 to 27 concern the protection of coral reef and contain some provisions regarding fishing. Sections 28 to 32 concern the protection of beaches. Sections 33 to 39 outline the powers of various public bodies including coastal zone inspectors. (47 sections)
