Abstract
This Act provides for mandatory use of jute packaging for prescribed products. Section 4 states that no person shall sell, distribute or supply, goods prescribed by rules made under this Act, except by wrapping them in jute wrappers. Section 5 forms an Advisory Committee for the purpose of making recommendations on the wrapping of any product by jute wrapping. Section 8 gives the Director-General of Jute Department the power to enter and inspect any premises, seize goods and records etc. in respect of contravention of the Act. Section 13 allows disposal of seized goods and section 14 provides penalty for use of artificial wrapping.
