Ordinance N. 22 of 7 July 2008 on the terms and conditions for granting financial aid under the measure "Initial afforestation of non-agricultural land" of the Rural Development Programme for the period 2007-2013.

This Ordinance, based on the provisions of the Bulgarian Law on support to farmers, regulates the terms and procedure for granting financial aid to projects under the measure "Initial afforestation of non-agricultural land" as determined by the Rural Development Programme for the period 2007-2013, which is also supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Development of rural areas (EAFRD). Projects that contribute to the achievement of these objectives shall be: 1. increase of the forest cover in the plain areas; 2. reduction of erosion and protection of the land from marginalization; 3. improvement of the water balance in supported territories. Financial assistance shall be provided for the establishment of forest crops, including the following activities: 1. creation of forest crops, which includes: a) preparation of a technological plan for afforestation; b) soil preparation; c) transport and temporary storage of propagating material; d) purchase of planting material; e) labor costs during afforestation; f) fencing of the afforested territory; 2. maintenance of the created forest cultures, which includes: a) replenishment (replanting or replanting); b) cultivation of newly created forest crops up to 5 years after afforestation.
