Abstract
This Ordinance, as in accordance with the terms of Bulgarian Law on Food, lays down necessary health requirements for animals from which food intended for human consumption is obtained, intended when: 1. Producing, processing and distributing primary products of animal origin and products obtained from them, intended for human consumption; 2. introduction from foreign of third countries of such primary products of animal origin and of products derived therefrom if intended for human consumption. The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) shall exercise control over business operators of products of animal origin, intended for human consumption, at all stages of production, processing and distribution in order to prevent the spread of diseases, which are transmitted to animals, and in order to verify that all primary products and foodstuffs derived from animals actually meet mandatory veterinary health requirements.

The Annex is also part of this publication (containing list of diseases that are important in trade in products of animal origin and for which control measures have been introduced in accordance with national legislation).
