Regulation No 10 of 1 April 2015 on the conditions for registration and on the procedure for identification of bee colonies.

This Regulation defines: the rules and conditions for the registration of holdings (apiaries) in which bee colonies are grown; the order and the manner for the correct identification of hives and bee families; the obligations of the veterinary authorities, natural and legal persons in relation to the performance of the tasks object of this text.
The mandatory registration of all beekeeping holdings shall be carried out by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, and the identification of hives with bee families shall be executed by owners and/or users of apiaries on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. Other related task are also held by the Regional Directorate for Food Safety.
These rules are aimed at ensuring the health of bee families, limiting the spread of contagious bee diseases and successfully running the related state preventive programmes; ensuring the quality and safety of bee products.
