Abstract
This Law regulates the social relations associated with the implementation, management and control of veterinary activities and practices (on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria), and introduces the related necessary legislation of the European Union and also adopts the principles brought by the World Animal Health Organization. This Law is aimed for animal health, wild animals, including fish and aquatic species in aquaculture.
The major issues treated by this Law are the following: implementation of veterinary requirements for animal health and welfare; protection of the effective human health from zoonotic diseases; principles of the safety of raw foods of animal origin in their production and transportation; secured and controlled disposal of animal by-products and products derived therefrom; protection of the environment from the harmful effects of livestock and its related industries; marketing, trade and exchange of animals, germinal products, raw materials and foodstuffs of animal origin, animal products and products deriving from the same; production, import, trade, storage and use of veterinary medicinal products; inspection terms and rules; monitoring over the compliance with many rules adopted by this Law; veterinary science, laboratory work, diagnostics and expertise; terms and conditions for the exercise of authorized/approved veterinary profession; and various issues regarding the veterinary practices in technical, educational, administrative, sanitary and welfare terms.
The offences and penalties are also provided by this text.
