Abstract
This Regulation sets out the official maximum levels of pesticide residues in or on food or foodstuff. This text also determines the necessary conditions and procedure for sampling that shall be applied to carry out official controls on the content of such pesticide residues in or on foodstuffs of both plant and animal origin.
This Regulation shall apply to products for human consumption listed and regulated in the Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 February 2005 on maximum residue levels of pesticides in or on food and feed of plant and animal origin and amending Council Directive 91/414/EEC. The maximum levels of pesticide residues shall also be aligned with specific requirements laid down in the above mentioned Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. Section II deals with provisions on packaging and transportation of samples; preparation of test samples and evaluation of test results are in Section III; interpretation of food test results for pesticide residues and related eligibility criteria are listed in Section IV.
The Annex is also part of this publication, containing the list of minimum number of primary (incremental) samples to be taken per batch; number of randomly selected primary (incremental) samples required to determine the probability of detecting at least one non-compliant sample in a batch of meat or poultry meat for a specific case of non-compliant batch residues; meat and poultry meat: description of primary (point) samples and minimum amount of laboratory samples; pastel products: description of primary samples and minimum quantity of laboratory samples; and list of eggs and milk products: description of primary (point) samples and minimum amount of laboratory samples.
