Abstract
This Regulation defines the measures for prevention, containment and eradication of the Newcastle disease in birds and poultry, in decorative and racing pigeons and prey birds.
This text also sets the manner and method for the diagnosis of such disease; the obligations of veterinary authorities; the responsibilities of all envolved natural and legal persons as regards the application of measures here stipulated; the conditions and procedure for the application of the same rules.
The National Veterinary Service shall notify the European Commission in case of needment.
The Annex is also part of this publication (technical and sanitary conditions; list of official national laboratories).

Entry into force notes
This Regulation enters into force on 1 May 2006, except for the provisions of article 27 and Annex 4 (in relation with the provisions of the article 22) that shall enter into force on 1 January 2007.
