Regulation on procedures for the Consultative Commission on genetically modified organisms.

This Regulation stipulates the rules aimed to determine the procedure of the Consultative Commission on genetically modified organisms, that is here defined as an state advisory body in charge of scientific and technical consultancy and elaboration of official opinions in that specific field.
Some of the main task of this Commission are listed as follows: recording premises for contained use of GMOs; setting issues, modifications and revocations of GMO authorizations in controlled conditions and the release of GMOs into the environment; issuance of import permits for the contained use of GMOs or for the release of the same into the environment; withdrawal of marketing authorizations for GMOs or a combination of these as products or a constituent of products; issuance of import authorization for the placing on the market of GMOs or a combination thereof as a product or a constituent of products; delivery of reports on agriculture and food and on other matters of their competence, arising from the implementation of the GMO and the European Union (EU) Law on genetic engineering and modified organisms; to participate in the elaboration of drafts of normative Acts related to bio-safety; and other relevant duties such as reporting to the competent international institutions.
