Abstract
The aim of this Law is to regulate the sewage disposal and surface water drainage in order to protect the environment against pollution. The present Law is composed of 20 articles. Article 1 deals with terms and definitions. Articles 2-6 pertain to the following: scope of application; licensing; licensing procedures; modification of licensing requirements; and revocation of licences. Article 7 deals with precautions to be taken by the licensee to prevent damages to the environment, public health and facilities. Articles 8 and 9 pertain to complaints and compensations. Article 10 defines prohibited disposal. Article 11 relates to inspection rooms. Article 12 addresses the treatment of sewage waters and establishes that (i) sewage should be treated according to sanitary and environmental standards; (ii) the waste water from treated wastewater and sludge shall be utilized for agricultural and other appropriate purposes. Articles 13-20 provide for the following: registers and maps; appeals; offences and penalties; and taxes and fees.
