Adjustment to the Agreement on cooperation for the utilization of the natural resources and the development of the Quaraí River Basin.

Considering the interest of promoting the management, appropriate use and conservation of the Basin's water resources, in accordance with the purposes set out in Article 11, paragraph I of the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Government of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay for the Utilization of Natural Resources and the Development of the Quarai River Basin, signed on March 11, 1991. This Complementary Adjustment provides for the rational and sustainable use of the Quarai River. Priority will be given to the supply of drinking water to the riverside populations, on the understanding that the bodies of both Parties responsible for this will seek to increase the availability of water with the appropriate measures, within the scope of their competence.
