Decree No. 12.173 providing for the National Integrated Fire Management Committee and the Integrated Multi-Agency Federal Operational Coordination Centre.

This Decree establishes the National Integrated Fire Management Committee, an advisory and deliberative body for the National Integrated Fire Management Policy, and the Integrated Multi-Agency Federal Operational Coordination Centre (Ciman Federal), an operational body linked to the National Integrated Fire Management Committee, with the task of monitoring and coordinating actions to control and combat forest fires.
The National Integrated Fire Management Committee is responsible for: facilitating institutional coordination to promote integrated fire management; proposing to the competent body of the federal executive branch rules for the implementation of the National Policy; proposing measures for the implementation and monitoring of the National Policy; assessing the annual report on forest fires in the national territory drawn up by the Federal Ciman and publicize it; proposing coordination mechanisms for the detection and control of forest fires to be applied by fire response institutions, such as integrated multi-agency operational coordination centers; establishing guidelines and disseminating information on forest fires and integrated fire management; training human resources to prevent and combat forest fires; monitoring international technical cooperation actions; proposing instruments for analyzing the impacts of fires and integrated fire management on land use change, ecosystem conservation, public health, flora, fauna and climate change; and draw up its internal regulations.
