Abstract
This Decree, consisting of 8 articles and four Annexes, defines species of native flora threatened with extinction in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The Decree recognizes as extinct/regionally extinct species, almost endangered by extinction and with insufficient data in the state territory, those plant species contained in Annexes II, III and IV respectively. The Secretariat of the Environment is responsible to: establish urgent measures for the conservation of the species listed in the Annexes, especially those of the CP and EP categories, promoting the articulation of actions with research institutes, universities, state and federal agencies whose purpose is the scientific research and implementation of: biodiversity research, protection, preservation and conservation programmes; advertise to the lists published in the annex, promoting their dissemination to the institutions concerned with nature conservation and the population in general; stimulate the development of integrated environmental control, including the municipal and federal spheres, in order to monitor and trafficking and illegal extraction of endangered native flora; submit to the National Plant Conservation Centre (CNCFlora), the lists included in the Annexes, assist in future revisions of the Official List of Endangered Species of Brazilian Flora.
