Decree No. 60.508 approving the Regulations of the Pernambuco State Agency for Agricultural Defence and Inspection (ADAGRO).

This Decree approves the new Regulation of the Pernambuco State Agency for Agricultural Defence and Inspection (ADAGRO), establishing its organisational structure, functions, governance arrangements and administrative framework. The Regulation confirms ADAGRO as the principal state authority responsible for animal and plant health protection, agricultural inspection, epidemiological surveillance, disease and pest prevention, and the control of the production, movement, storage and commercialisation of agricultural products and inputs. It also defines the Agency’s powers to register and inspect establishments, enforce sanitary regulations, issue certifications, apply sanctions for violations, and coordinate educational and preventive programmes aimed at safeguarding agricultural production, public health and food safety. The Decree further restructures ADAGRO’s internal administration by redefining management positions, establishing specialised directorates and technical units, and detailing the responsibilities of departments responsible for animal health, plant protection, inspection services, certification, technological innovation, georeferencing systems, strategic planning and regional operations. The Regulation seeks to strengthen agricultural governance in Pernambuco by improving institutional efficiency, enhancing sanitary controls, supporting sustainable agricultural development, promoting traceability and certification systems, encouraging technological innovation, and ensuring greater coordination of agricultural defence policies throughout the State.
