Law No. 15.919 creating the Agriculture and Livestock Protection Agency (ADAGRO).

This Law, consisting of 32 articles divided into seven Chapters, creates Agriculture and Livestock Protection Agency (ADAGRO) within the State of Pernambuco. ADAGRO aims to promote the agricultural protection and inspection in the territory of the State of Pernambuco. In addition, ADAGRO shall perform the following activities: plan, elaborate, coordinate and execute programme for promotion and protection of the animal and vegetal health and the zoophytosanitary education, being constituted the maximum state authority of agricultural health for all purposes; control the entry, transit, processing of products, by-products and derivatives of animal and plant origin, and inputs, including activities on rural properties in the territory of Pernambuco; mapping and monitoring of zoo-phytosanitary within the territory of Pernambuco, aiming at establishing actions to prevent and control plant and animal pests and diseases; carry out the activities of epidemiological surveillance, prophylaxis and control of animal and plant pests and diseases; supervise and inspect natural and legal persons governed by public and private law who manipulate, produce, benefit, classify, store, market, transport products and derivatives of plant origin and inputs; register, monitor and inspect natural and legal persons who produce, market and distribute chemotherapeutic, biological, pesticides and related products, other agricultural products, as well as zoo-phytosanitary service providers; apply fines and other sanctions to violators of laws, decrees, ordinances and standards of animal and plant health protection or related products, which govern the activities of ADAGRO;
