Decree No. 8.887 providing for the composition and functioning of the Socio-Economic Development Council (CDES).

This Decree, consisting of six Chapters divided into 21 articles, provides for the composition and functioning of the Socio-Economic Development Council (CDES), created by Law 10.683. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Council (CDES) as an immediate advisory body to the President of the Republic and is entitled to: advise the President of the Republic on the formulation of specific policies and guidelines aimed to economic and social development; to consider proposals for public policies on structural reforms and economic and social development, with a view to articulating the relations of the Federal Government with representatives of civil society and promoting the dialogue between the various sectors represented. The Decree is divided as follows: Composition, Duties and Functioning (Chaps. I and II); Duties of the President and the Executive Secretary of CDES (Chap. III); Composition and Functions of the Management Committee (Chap. IV); Composition and Functions of the Labour Committees (Chap. V); Final Provisions (Chap. VI).
